Sophia Wiard’s 24-point performance propelled the Oakridge girls basketball team to a 55-44 win over Mason County Central on Friday night.

The Eagles led 30-23 at halftime and 38-32 heading into the final quarter.

Taryn Thompson added eight points for Oakridge while both Halle Jennings and Kyla Stewart chipped in with six apiece.

Mason County was led by Rachel Allen with 12 points, while Kelsey Kosiboski added 11 and both Maddy Bladzik and Madison Bennett each added eight

Oakridge is now 15-2 on the season and 11-1 in league play, while the Spartans fell to 11-5 overall and 9-4 in the conference.

KENT CITY 80, HESPERIA 22 –The Eagles jumped out to a 17-3 lead after the first quarter and carried a commanding 47-9 advantage at halftime. Kent City increased its advantage to 64-14 after the third quarter.

Kenzie Bowers had a team-high 23 points to lead the Eagles while Zara Weber followed with 22. Jenna Harrison finished with 15.

Leading Hesperia was Emily Bayle with nine points with Alyssa Miller following with eight.

Following their ninth consecutive victory, the Eagles improved to 14-2 overall and 9-0 in conference play.

O-K BLUE CONFERENCE

SPRING LAKE 62, GRAND RAPIDS WEST CATHOLIC 50 – The Spring Lake girls basketball team had a great start, jumping out to a 23-9 lead in the first stanza and taking a 35-17 advantage into the halftime break.

Both teams were even during the third frame, scoring 17 points apiece.

Jenna Core paced the Lakers with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Jennifer Judge added 15 points and Madeline Zenas had a team-high 11 rebounds and added 12 points. Phoebe Saunders led the team with 11 assists and contributed 11 points.

O-K BLACK CONFERENCE

GRAND RAPIDS UNION 60, MONA SHORES 47 – The Sailors trailed 12-5 after the first quarter, 22-15 at halftime and 42-27 heading into the last frame.

 

Riley Rosenthal paced Mona Shores with 15 points while Julia Tierman followed with 10.

 

The Sailors are now 4-11 overall on the season.
