Kacy Jeffries hit a three-pointer with two seconds remaining to give the Whitehall girls basketball team an exciting 35-32 victory over Fremont on Wednesday in non-conference action.

The winning shot came after Fremont’s Avery Cumett hit a triple with 12 seconds left to tie the game.

Whitehall got off to a hot start, taking a 14-3 lead after one quarter, but the Packers kept chipping away and made the game close at the end.

Jeffries finished with 11 points while Greta Hosticka snagged 10 rebounds for the Vikings, who are now 13-2 on the season.

Calla Miller led Fremont with seven points while Paige Vandenberg grabbed 11 rebounds.

WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 69, MUSKEGON HEIGHTS 11 – The Warriors took control right away and led 41-4 at halftime.

Taylor Folkema led the way for the Warriprs with 22 points. Anna Sytsema totaled 16 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals, Meghan Heiss had 12 points and four steals, and Alyssa Eekhoff contributed six points and seven rebounds.

NON-CONFERENCE

FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN 53, HOLTON 38 – Fruitport Calvary Christian jumped out to a 20-7 lead in the first quarter but only scored two points in the second on 1-for-22 shooting and led 22-15 at halftime.

The Eagles used an effective full-court press defense to pull away in the second half.

Kelsey Richards paced Calvary with 30 points and six steals, Lizzie Cammenga chipped in 12 points and 12 rebounds, Brionna Johnson pulled down 14 boards and Kristina Warren had six assists.

The Red Devils were led by Haylee Brant with 11 points.

Fruitport Calvary Christian is now 15-3 on the season.

LUDINGTON 36, HART 26 – Ludington led 20-8 at halftime, Hart crept back and cut the lead to 23-18 after three quarters, but the Orioles held on for the win.

Lindsey Holmes led Ludington with 10 points. Hart’s Nicole Rockwell scored a game-high 11.

FRUITPORT 43, MUSKEGON CATHOLIC 27 – The Trojans led by eight points after three quarters then pulled away with an 11-3 edge in the fourth.

JaiLyn Johnson scored 15 points for Muskegon Catholic.

O-K BLACK CONFERENCE

REETHS-PUFFER 58, GRAND RAPIDS UNION 42– The Rockets, who won their second game in two nights, nailed 26-of-32 free throws as a team. Lauren Ross paced Reeths-Puffer with 28 points.

Emily Caltagirone added 10 points and six assists for the Rockets while Trina Lewis pulled down seven rebounds.

LATE TUESDAY GAMES

GRAND HAVEN 47, CALEDONIA 31 – The Bucs took control with a 14-5 edge in the first quarter and 13-6 in the fourth.

Alli Keyser had 17 points, six assists and four steals for Grand Haven. Esther Byington had seven rebounds and four blocks.

The Bucs improved to 15-2 overall and 8-2 in the O-K Red Conference.

WHITE CLOUD 36, RAVENNA 17 – Veera Hautala scored nine points for Ravenna in the non-conference loss.

The Bulldogs are now 5-10 on the season.
