Local Sports Journal Grant lost 65-49 in the Class B district semifinal to Sparta on Wednesday night. Sparta will face Fremont in the district championship game on Friday at 7 p.m. at Tri-County High School. Sparta jumped out to a 27-17 lead after one quarter and led 37-28 at halftime. Austin Jensen led the Tigers with 10 points and Riley Foster scored nine.

Local Sports Journal Grant earned a 55-53 Class B district win over Newaygo on Monday night. The Lions advance to play Sparta on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in the semifinals at Tri-County High School. Local Sports Journal The Ludington Orioles held the Grant Tigers scoreless in the second quarter on Monday and cruised to a 59-21 girls basketball victory. The Orioles led 37-7 at the half. D’Erica Varenhorst led Ludington with 18 points while Molly Hallead added 13. Logan Meeker had nine points and seven assists. Dayle Wood and C.J. Freeman had six points each for Grant.
