Mona Shores captured the 8th grade baseball league championship Sunday with a 6-3 victory over Montague. The game was played at historic Marsh Field.

Coach James Cooper’s team scored two runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to capture the title.

Montague countered with its three runs in the sixth.

Shores’ starting pitcher Eric Nelson scored a run in the fourth inning as did Elijah Wilson, who crossed the plate on a hit to center by Hunter Broersma.

In the fifth, Tyler Trovinger and Connor Schotts crossed the plate to make it 4-0. In the top of the sixth, Wilson and Jimmy Cooper scored.

Trovinger finished up on the mound for Shores, which finished the season 10-2-1. Montague was 8-3.
