Glen Metcalf is returning to Muskegon Heights.

Metcalf, who spent 34 years at the school district, is coming back as the Muskegon Heights Public School Academy System’s athletic director. Representatives of Mosiaca Education made the announcement Thursday night.

Metcalf recently retired as assistant men’s basketball coach at Olivet College.

“Glen is committed to assist us with bringing Tiger pride back and to increase academic achievement for all students,” Alena Zachery, vice president of Moscaica Education for Muskegon Heights Schools, said.

Metcalf was an assistant basketball coach at Heights, head football coach for 24 years and was honored as the 1990 Class B Coach of the Year by the Associated Press.

More recently, he was assistant basketball coach at Olivet, where he worked alongside longtime Muskegon Community College men’s basketball coach Gene Gifford. He also was the assistant athletic director at Olivet.

Metcalf earned a bachelor of arts in education degree from Southern Colorado University.
