West Michigan Riptide 16U pulled out a dramatic extra-inning victory to win the Extra Innings Summer Celebration tournament this past weekend.

Hayden Modaff’s double to left center scored Blake Collins from first base for the only run of the game in a 1-0 victory over the Grand Rapids Starz Baseball Club.

In the title game, starting pitcher Collin Adams went 6 1/3 innings. He allowed one hit. Collins pitched the final 2 2/3 and also allowed a single hit.

Riptide finished the tournament with a 5-1 record and outscored its opponents 37-21.

The pitching duo of Adams and Collins did not allow an earned run in their 23 innings of work.

Adams pitched 13 1/3 innings with 22 strikeouts. He faced 47 batters and allowed just three hits. Collins, in 9 2/3 innings of work, allowed three hits in 41 batters faced.

Leading hitters were Adams (.455), Connor Grimes (.412), Kyle Houts (.389) including a home run at Marsh Field, and Carter Robson (.313) Houts, Chad Mattson and Julian Loera scored 17 runs in the tournament for Riptide.
