Ludington had the ball in the latter stages of the fourth quarter, but a fumble gave the ball to the Tigers with 3 minutes remaining.

“They did an excellent job of clock management,” Ludington coach Charlie Gunsell said.

Grant took a 14-7 halftime lead on the strength of a 52-yard touchdown run by Bouwkamp and a 1-yard scoring pass from Garrett Bomay to Austin Jensen. Ludington’s first-half score was a 12-yard pass from Chad Large to Trevor Wahr.

In the second half, the Orioles tied the game on a 5-yard run by Trevor Overholt in the third quarter.

The game remained tied until the last minute heroics by the Tigers.

Ludington had the Tigers 3rd and 9, but an 11-yard run by Bouwkamp kept the drive alive.

“He did a nice job tonight,” Gunsell said of Bouwkamp. “He’s a load. It’s a tough one. It’s just one of those you wish you would have played better, but credit to them. They did what they had to do to win.”
