GRAND RAPIDS – Dan Shoop saw to it that the Oakridge Eagles kicked off the football season in grand style on Friday night with a 25-6 victory over host Forest Hills Eastern.

Shoop rushed 20 times for 164 yards and three touchdowns as the Eagles ran away from Forest Hills Eastern. Shoop scored on runs of 27, 1 and 1 yard.

Oakridge also received a fourth-quarter touchdown from Francis Decker, who scored from 27 yards out.

Eagle quarterback Austin Wright completed 5-of-6 passes for 64 yards. On defense, Brandon Jasso had 10 tackles.

The Eagles defense was stellar all night long, especially on third down. Forest Hills Eastern converted just 1-of-10 on third down.

John McCready scored the hosts’ lone touchdown, a 2-yard run in the final quarter.

Oakridge, which travels to Mason County Central next Thursday, had 299 yards of total offense.
