Grand Haven succumbs late at Traverse City West; Reeths-Puffer falls to Hudsonville

Traverse City West’s Grant Balino scored on a 2-yard run midway through the final quarter as TCW rallied for the win over Grand Haven.

The Bucs took a 7-0 first quarter lead on Isaak Newhouse’s 4-yard touchdown reception from Michael Penland.

Traverse City West led 10-7 after three quarters, but Cody Jonas’s 2-yard run early in the final quarter gave Grand Haven a 14-10 lead.

Penland was 9-of-16 passing for 116 yards for the Bucs, while Jonas added 111 yards rushing and Abe Westerman added 81 yards on 14 carries.

Jeff Olson caught two passes for 42 yards for Grand Haven and Newhouse led Bucs defense with nine tackles.

Hudsonville 14, Reeths-Puffer 6 – Dakota Butcher’s 13-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Bobby Cardenas with 90 seconds left in the final quarter gave Hudsonville the win. Reeths-Puffer trailed 7-0 after three quarters, but cut the lead to 7-6 in the final quarter on Julian Munday’s 21-yard scoring run. R-P quarterback Garrett Blanshine was 4-of-12 passing for 41 yards, Munday rushed 10 times for 41 yards and Marquiese Livers caught two passes for 21 yards. Tyler Stenberg led the Rockets defense with seven tackles.
