BOYS AND GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
NORTH MUSKEGON

Coach: Gary Neal.
Last year: Boys: Third at Division 4 state meet; Girls: Finished second at Division 4 state meet.

BOYS

Senior and three-time all state runner Jacob Chovaz will lead the Norsemen this season. Other returning runners are senior Matt Hanley, junior Jeremy Bos and sophomores Wesley Collins and Avery Sroka.

Newcomers that should contribute this season are senior Mason Strum, junior Travis Webster and freshmen Jeffrey Bos, Noah Brininstool, Connor Durow and Kris Herbert.

Exchange students Kang Yu and Theo Amarger also are newcomers.

The Norsemen graduated three of their top five runners from last year’s team that finished third at the state finals meet.

Chovaz will lead a Norse team this season that should get better as the season progresses especially if a talented group of new runners can contribute.

GIRLS

The Norse will be led by three returning all-state runners from a year ago. Seniors Emily Witham and Ginny Hoch and sophomore Abby Vermuelen all earned all-state honors for North Muskegon last season and will form a formidable top-three.

Also returning for Norse are seniors Hannah Meier and Brielle Johnson, junior Kat Tyson and sophomores Avery Lowe and Ellie Wilson.

New runners for the Norse are seniors Erica Bayak, junior Andrea Fairfield, sophomore Madi Bluhm and freshmen Megan Rossiter and Tess Wilson.

Expectations are high for the Norse who return all seven runners from last year’s state runner-up team. North Muskegon should be considered the favorite to win the Division 4 state championship this season.
