The West Michigan Riptide Dirtbags saw their tournament run come to an end Saturday night in the AABC Stan Musial North Central Regionals.
On a rainy night in Battle Creek, the Dirtbags dropped an 8-4 decision to Detroit Jet Set in the semifinals.
“It was a good game and we had our chances,” Dirtbag coach Bob Cavanaugh wrote in a text message.
The Dirtbags, a college-age team, had moved into the semifinals after defeating Flint 7-2 in a quarterfinal matchup earlier on Saturday.
That means Detroit will take on Oswego in Sunday’s noon championship game at C.O. Brown Stadium. Oswego defeated the Battle Creek Merchants 5-1 in a rain interrupted semifinal game.
The tournament champion will move on to the Stan Musial World Series later this month in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
