Muskegon native Justin Abdelkader has signed a four-year deal with the National Hockey League’s Detroit Red Wings.

According to NHL.com, Abdelkader, 25, signed a four-year deal and free agent defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo signed a two-year deal. Finanacial terms were not disclosed, but several report suggest Abdelkader’s deal could be worth about $1.7 million per season.

Abdelkader had eight goals and 14 assists in 81 games last season. He also appeared in five playoff games. He was a second-round pick of the Wings in 2005. He has 18 goals and 29 assists in 209 NHL games.

Last year with the St. Louis Blues, Colaiacovo had two goals, 17 assists and was plus-7 in 64 games. He is a nine-year veteran.

Abdelkader, 25, had eight goals and 14 assists in 81 regular-season games last season, and played in five playoff games.

A 2005 second-round pick of the Red Wings, Abdelkader has 18 goals and 29 assists in 209 games spread across five seasons. He also has three goals and two assists in 37 playoff games.
