The Muskegon Community College men’s soccer team downed the visiting Cornerstone jayvees 6-0 on Wednesday night.

The Jayhawks (6-1) wasted little time getting an early score from Mike Schmitt, who finished with a pair of goals. Drew Maus and Greg Sischo each added goals to give MCC a 3-0 lead at halftime.

Sischo added his second goal and an assist in the second half, while brother Luke Sischo assisted on a Trevor Carlson goal.

“Mike got a nice goal in the first five minutes and we were good in our passing game,” said MCC coach Ben Ritsema. “Defense got a good shutout and did what they had to do.”

MCC outshot Cornerstone 20-7 with goalies Tyler Lane and Patrick Stewart combining for the shutout.

Alex Yanez, Eric Hilt and Kody Harrell each had assists for MCC.
