Eric Hilt gave Muskegon Community College an early lead on Sunday, but that would be the extent of the Jayhawks’ offense against Jackson Community College.

The hosts scored the game’s final three goals and posted a 3-1 victory over the Jayhawks (8-3 overall, 1-2 in the MCCAA, 7-2 in Region XII).

Fredi Lopez assisted on Hilt’s goal, which came 9 minutes into the contest.

Jackson scored a breakaway goal 10 minutes later. One minute later, Jackson was awarded a penalty kick, which was stopped by MCC goalkeeper Tyler Lane. However, the rebound was put into the net by another Jackson player.

The Jayhawks trailed 2-1 at the half.

MCC came out strong in the second and put some heavy pressure on net, but could not score.

A breakaway goal gave the hosts a 3-1 lead.

“We had lots of possession in the second half and some decent scoring opportunities, but couldn’t put anything in,” Jayhawk coach Ben Ritsema said.

MCC had a 15-8 advantage in shots. Lane made five saves.
