The men’s soccer team from Muskegon Community College suffered its worst loss in the two-year history of the varsity program.

On Saturday, Owen Community College scored four first-half goals en route to a 6-1 victory over the Jayhawks. The game was played at Reeths-Puffer High School.

“I think in their first four shots, they had three goals,” MCC coach Ben Ritsema said. “It was just a lack of focus and a lack of tight marking.”

Early in the second half, the Jayhawks scored their lone goal. Kody Harrell took a pass from Michael Schmitt and scored to make it 4-1.

MCC falls to 8-4 overall, 6-3 in Region XII action.
