The men and women’s cross country teams ventured to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Midwest Open on Saturday.
The women finished 12th  out of 19 teams and the men were eighth of 15 teams.
WOMEN
KT Truman’s led the Jayhawks to a 12th place finish. She ran in the lead pack along with runners from NCAA Division II and III teams and finished in 24th among the 176 runners.
Overall, MCC finished three minutes faster than their combined time a week ago.
Alexis Yost, from Coopersville, lowered her time by more than two minutes. The other MCC runners were Katylynne Kerwin, Jessica Sevarns, Meagan Lavin, Krista Brandel and Jessica VanDyke.
MEN
Mathias Waterstradt, from North Muskegon, finished 33rd of the 122 runners, mostly from Division II and III teams. Mitch Clark, from Whitehall, ran a personal best as the team’s sixth runner. Other MCC runners were Kyle Starr, Christian Seaver, Corey Burt, Alex Drew and Lucas Johnson.
The teams return to action on Friday at noon at Michigan State University’s Forest Akers East Golf Course. The women will open up with a 6K run, followed by the men running an 8K.
