Spring Lake had a pair of runners finish in the top 15 and qualified for the Division 2 state finals by placing second at the Division 2 cross country regional at Allendale on Saturday.
The Lakers finished with 71 points to take second place by a point over East Grand Rapids. Grand Rapids Christian won the team title with 53 points.
Fruitport placed 13th with 341 points.
The top three teams and top 15 individuals who are not members of a state finals qualifying team advance to the state finals meet at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn on Nov. 3.
Brittany Beeler led the Lakers by placing fourth overall in a time of 18:42, while her teammate Carlyn Artega (18:55) finished in fifth place.
