In the latter stages of the half, Fruitport received two goals by Zach Gilson. The first came on a shot from 20 yards out. The assist went to Dalton Mullenix.
Three minutes later, Gilson scored after a scramble in front of the Kenowa Hills net. Taylor McLaughlin drew the assists.
Fruitport had a 14-6 advantage in shots with goalkeeper Loghan Stong making four saves.
“The entire team is playing beautiful soccer and we are having a lot of fun,” Fruitport coach Greg Kobylak said. “We didn’t score in the second half, but we were more concerned about ending the game without any injuries. We are excited and confident heading into our next game – it should be another classic.”
