Mason County Central’s girls cross country team finished second at the Division 3 regional cross country meet at Benzie Central on Saturday and qualified for the state finals race.
The Spartans finished with 69 points to finish 17 points behind champion Benzie Central.
Hart finished in fifth place with 158 and Shelby was 11th with 263.
The top three teams and top 15 individuals who are not members of a state finals qualifying team advance to the state finals meet at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn on Nov. 3.
Andrea Lavigne (19:22) led the Spartans by placing eighth and she was followed by Lindsay Larsen (19:24) in ninth and Leta Larsen (19:38) in 12th place.
Hart’s Jennie Gottardo (19:14) placed sixth to qualify for the state finals as did her teammate Lara Salazar (19:54), who finished 15th overall.
