The Mona Shores Sailors have their eyes set on capturing a fourth straight Division 2 girls golf state title.

The two-day event begins Friday with first-round action at The Meadows on the campus of Grand Valley State University.

The Sailors’ balanced lineup includes Hailey Hrynewich, Morgan Smith, Britni Gielow, Kelsey McKinley and Rylee George.

Hrynewich, Smith, Gielow and McKinley have been together for each of the state titles. Last year, the Sailors beat runner-up Birmingham Seaholm by 27 strokes. Two years ago, it was a 26-shot victory over Traverse City Central. Three years ago, Shores finished 15 strokes ahead of runner-up Battle Creek Lakeview.

Individually, Reeths-Puffer senior Breanna McCarthy, who shot an 89 in regionals, will play as an individual in the meet.

In Division 3, Whitehall senior Nikki Borgman will tee off in the state finals at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek. Borgman shot a 94 in regionals to qualify for the state meet as in individual.

Western Michigan Christian sophomore Abbie Alfree qualified as an individual in Division 4. She will be playing at Forest Akers West on the campus of Michigan State University.
