Mona Shores took a commanding lead after the first day of the Division 2 girls golf state finals on Friday.
The Sailors shot a 341, which put them up by 13 strokes over Battle Creek Lakeview (354).
Hailey Hrynewich shot a 79, which was one shot behind Danielle Little (78) from Battle Creek Lakeview.
Morgan Smith (82), Britni Gielow (90) and Kelsey McKinley (90) rounded out Mona Shores’ scoring.
Reeths-Puffer’s Breanna McCarthy shot an 84 to put her in eighth place overall.
In Division 3, Whitehall’s Nikki Borgman shot an opening-round score of 96.
Muskegon Catholic Central’s Aya Johnson shot an 80 and is in fourth place individually.
Western Michigan Christian sophomore Abbie Alfree shot a 104 in the first round.
