The Muskegon Community College men’s soccer team battled back from a two-goal deficit only to fall 3-2 to Owens Community College on Sunday.

Owens scored two goals in the first 15 minutes of the game and took that advantage into halftime.

The Jayhawks cut the lead in half when Dylan Darga’s cross was banged into the net by Eric Hilt with a header.

MCC tied the game with 16 minutes remaining on a goal by Greg Sischo. The Owens keep could not corral a shot by Fredi Lopez and Sischo put the rebound in the net.

Eight minutes later, Owens scored what proved to be the game-winning goal.

Owens had a 6-5 advantage in shots. MCC goalkeeper Tyler Lane had three saves.

The Jayhawks record fell to 8-5-1 overall, 6-4-1 in Region XII action. MCC remains third in the region behind Schoolcraft and Owens.
