The Muskegon Lumberjacks dropped a 3-2 shootout decision to the Des Moines Buccaneers on Saturday night.

The Lumberjacks head home after earning three of a possible four points in their long road trip. Muskegon defeated Cedar Rapids in overtime on Friday night and are now 4-0-1 through five games.

Seth Adams and Joseph Gambardella scored during regulation for the Buccaneers.

Ben Foster, who scored the game-winner on Friday in overtime, scored a first-period goal with assists being credited to Chad McDonald and Frederik Tiffels.

After Gambardella scored the lone goal of the second period, Muskegon tied it in the third.

Campbell Elynuik, who made his Lumberjack debut on Friday, scored the game-tying goal at the 12-minute mark to tie the game. Defensemen Carter Foguth and Rasmus Bengtsson assisted on Elynuik’s first goal in a Jacks’ jersey.

In the shootout, Des Moines received goals fro Luke Voltin and Tanner Karty. Bengtsson scored Muskegon lone goal in the shootout.

The outcome made a winner of Billy Christopoulos in the Buc net.

Kevin Lindskoug faced 34 shots in the Jacks’ net.

Muskegon had a 49-34 advantage in shots. That included a 20-shot barrage in the opening period.

Muskegon returns to action Tuesday night in Ann Arbor against Team USA.
