The Muskegon Lumberjacks’ Faceoff Rally is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at L.C. Walker Arena.

It’s the start of the Jacks Reading Caravan program.

The rally will include more than 1,000 students from school districts throughout the community. It will feature a presentation introducing them to the team and the reading program.

The Reading Caravan Program is an incentive-based program that helps students achieve their reading potential.  Children who reach their reading goals will be given prizes throughout the year.  Lumberjacks’ players, coaches and mascot Ollie will visit schools throughout the year to read to the children and teach the fundamentals of hockey.
