After a scoreless first half, the Orchard View Cardinals netted two goals in the final 40 minutes to nab the 2-1 Lakes 8 Conference soccer victory over visiting Ludington.
The Cardinals’ Brandon Edwards kicked off the scoring, beating an Oriole defender to the corner and then booting a well-placed ball past the Oriole goalkeeper. Teammate Jimmy Hendricks added another goal with 15 minutes left in the match on a free kick.
With six minutes left to play, with a little help from the Oriole defense, Ludington erased the shutout. Oriole Alex Podolski hit a free kick which Orchard View keeper Dylan Tyler knocked up to the crossbar. In the process, while attempting to clear the ball, Cardinal defender Trevor Spence kicked it in to his own squad’s net.
Tyler finished with one save.
