Whitehall’s boys cross cross country team finished in third place at the Division 2 cross country regional on Saturday at Benzie Central, and in the process, qualified for the state finals meet.

The Vikings finished with 125 team points, which was 23 points behind runner-up Gaylord. Cedar Springs won the team championship with 47 points.

Ludington finished in sixth place with 147 points, Fremont (151) placed seventh and Orchard View (293) finished 12th overall.

The top three teams and top 15 individuals who are not members of a state finals qualifying team advance to the state finals meet at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn on Nov. 3.

Logan Irey (16:25) had Whitehall’s top finish by placing 13th overall.

Ludington’s Luke Johnson (15:43) placed third and his teammate, Matthew Ritter (16:15), finished seventh to qualify for the state finals.

Orchard View’s Cameron Kroening (16:21) was also a state finals qualifier by placing 11th overall.
