Muskegon Catholic opens girls basketball season with nonleague victory over North Muskegon

Muskegon Catholic took the lead early on Tuesday and held off North Muskegon 42-31 in the season-opening girls basketball game for both teams.

The Crusaders led 13-8 after one quarter, 25-18 at the half and 31-25 heading into the final quarter.

MCC pulled away in the final quarter when the Norse were forced to take some chances.

Katherine Salisz led the Crusaders with 17 points. Kendall Wickstrom added nine and Haleigh Lock had 8.

Morgan Seaberg was the leading scorer for North Muskegon with 12 points. NM shot 22 percent from the floor on 12-for-55 shooting.
