The Muskegon Lumberjacks have a number of promotions and community-related events taking place in December.

* On Tuesday, the Lumberjacks will kick off the month with their “Shop with the Jacks” at Meijer on Henry St. from 6-8 p.m.  Each Lumberjacks player will be paired with a young child or two from the Muskegon Rescue Mission.  Each child is given a $100 Meijer gift  and with the help of a Lumberjacks’ player, they will fill their basket with goodies. Meijer has donated a total of 25 gift cards for the event.

* On Dec. 8, the Jacks host the Cedar Rapids Roughriders in the annual Teddy Bear Toss. Fans can bring a new or gently used stuff animal to the game in exchange for a ticket to an upcoming game. When the Jacks score their first goal, fans are invited to throw the bears onto the ice. The collected toys will be donated to local head start students and delivered by Muskegon Lumbejacks’ players prior to Christmas.

* The game on Dec. 15 against Fargo will be Star Wars Night. The group Great Lakes Garrison will be in attendance appearing in many Star Wars characters, including Darth Vader and his storm troopers.

* On Dec. 22, the Jacks complete their home slate with “Ugly Sweater Night.” In honor of the Christmas season, fans can wear their ugly Christmas sweaters to the game and will be eligible to win various prizes. Muskegon will take on the Chicago Steel that night.
