Mason County Central and Newaygo placed 10th and 11th place, respectively, at the Division 3 girls state finals cross country race on Saturday at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.

The Spartans finished with 332 points and Newaygo totaled 340.

Jackson Lumen Christi was crowned team champion with 167 points.

Lindsay Larsen (19:42) led MCC by placing 47th. Andrea Lavigne (58th), Leta Larsen (83rd), Jordyn Sanders (143rd) and Chloe Kimes (164th) completed the scores for the Spartans.

Newaygo had a pair of runners finish in the top 30 and earn all-state honors.

Kathy Middaugh (18:56) placed 15th for Newaygo and Hannah Rainey (19:11) finished in 28th place.

Brittany Williams (61st), Lauren Thayer (170th) and Ashlee Santiago (210th) rounded out the runners for Newaygo.

Kent City’s Ashley Russo (18:44) finished in 12th place overall to also earn all-state honors.

Macomb Lutheran North’s Gina Patterson (17:43) was the overall winner.
