Orchard View used the 1-2 punch of Diamond McGee and Jayshonna Blackshire to top visiting Grant 54-33 in its Lakes 8 opener.

Blackshire led all scorers with 18 points and 10 assists while McGee had 17 points, 10 steals and six rebounds.
“We played excellent defense in the first quarter and that pretty much determined the pace of the game,” said OV coach Rodney Walker. “We had great transition defense and was able to fast break on a lot of those turnovers and found open 3s and layups.”

The Cardinals limited Grant to single digits in the first three quarters and took a 14-6 lead after the first quarter and 25-12 at halftime.
Daejia Hill had 10 rebounds, six blocks and eight points, Precious Anderson added seven rebounds and five points and Ashley Brown had six rebounds for OV.
Dayle Woods led Grant with nine points and 12 rebounds.
