A big second quarter helped Reeths-Puffer earn a 53-42 nonconference win over visiting Fruitport in nonconference action Tuesday night.

The Rockets led 9-6 after one quarter and took a 28-11 lead into halftime, capitalizing on three 3-pointers in the period to outscore the Trojans 21-5.

“(We) moved the ball around and Fruitport went to zone,” R-P coach Dave Ingles said. “(And) we were able to get some open looks.”

Quinzell Pannell led the Rockets with 14 points and 17 rebounds, Andrew Reinecke added 12 points, Marquese Livers finished with nine rebounds and Kevin Polk had nine points and three assists.

“We did a nice job of cleaning up the boards and not giving them second chance points,” Ingles added. “If we didn’t do that well, it would have been a different game.”

Neither team did themselves any favors from the line, with the Rockets finishing 6-of-16 and Fruitport making only 14-of-23.

Tyler Fehler led the Trojans with 15 points and Aaron Veihl scored 12.
