Fourth-quarter surge helps Kent City down Sparta in girls basketball

A big fourth quarter sparked Kent City to a 50-39 win over visiting Sparta.

The Eagles trailed 34-29 heading into the quarter and erupted for 21 points while holding Sparta to just five points in the final eight minutes.

The Spartans kept Kent City to single digits in the second and third quarters and led 26-21 at halftime.

Aleah Holcomb led Kent City with 16 points and Brandi Boehm scored 15 points. Justine Wolter added eight points and Janae Atwood chipped in seven.
