Muskegon turned up the defensive pressure in the second half as it pulled away for a 60-45 win over West Ottawa in the season opener on Tuesday night.

The Big Reds made new coach Keith Guy’s debut a successful one as they outscored the Panthers 32-19 after halftime.

Deshaun Thrower led the Big Reds with 18 points, Juwon Martin totaled 15 and Joeviar Kennedy scored 11 points for Muskegon.
