Swedish forward Villiam Haag is joining the Muskegon Lumberjacks on a temporary basis.

Haag will join the Lumberjacks in time for Thursday night’s road game at Indiana.

The native of Gothenburg, Sweden was loaned to the Jacks  from Frolunda (J20 SuperElit League), where he currently leads the team with 30 points (19 goals and 11 assists) in 25 games played.  This season was Haag’s fifth in the Frolunda organization and will be his first appearance in North America.

“We appreciate the efforts of the Frolunda organization for allowing Villiam (Haag) to come overseas and showcase his talents in North America,” Lumberjacks owner, general manager and CEO Josh Mervis said.  “This is an exciting time for Villiam (Haag) playing for the first time in North America and we know that he will put forth his best efforts while donning the Lumberjacks uniform.”

Haag will play through the Jan. 6  game against the Des Moines Buccaneers at home while defenseman Rasmus Bengtsson (Sweden) and Forward Frederik Tiffels (Germany) represent their respective countries in the 2013 IIHF Under-20 World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia.
