Austin Johnson scored 19 of his 27 points after halftime on Tuesday night and led the Spring Lake Lakers to a 51-48 victory over visiting Ludington.

Johnson scored the final four points of the night, hitting the game winner on a post play with one minute left to give Spring Lake a 49-48 lead. The teams entered the final quarter tied at 33-all.

Johnson had 12 points in a pivotal fourth quarter including a pair of free throws with 5.3 seconds remaining.

“Just one motion in my shot and followed through,” said Johnson about his final three throws. “I just started going much harder in the second half and started to make my shots.”

The Lakers outscored the Orioles 18-15 in the final quarter.

Chase Rohrer gave Ludington a 48-47 lead with 1:28 left scoring off the assist from Joe Alanis. Rohrer finished with nine points, seven in the second half and Alanis finished with nine.

Jacob Schoon led the Orioles with 13 points.

In the first half, Christian Brandstra sparked Ludington  to a 22-17 lead with 2:37 left. But Spring Lake’s Johnson cut the Oriole lead to 22-21 just before halftime, scoring on a drive and two free throws. Bandstra finished with eight points, all in the half.

Erik Johnson’s 3-pointer gave Spring Lake a 24-22 lead to start the third quarter capping a 7-0 Laker run that began just before halftime. Erik Johnson finished with seven points for Spring Lake.

Adam Clauss led Spring Lake in assists with seven and scored six points on a pair of first-quarter 3s.

Nick Goeglein grabbed  seven rebounds and Charlie Warber had four points and two steals for the Lakers.
