Fremont nips Mason County Central in girls basketball action

Fremont’s balanced scoring proved to be too much for the Mason County Central Spartans on Monday night.

And a bucket by Shelby Karnemaat in the game’s final seconds accounted for the 47-46 victory. Karnemaat scored off an inbounds play on a pass from Claire Abendroth. Fremont then defended Mason County’s last bid for a game-winning basket.

Six Packer players scored six points or more in the nonleague contest.

Abendroth led the way with nine points, Hailey Lensky had six points and 10 rebounds and Marissa Spickerman had six points and eight steals.

Madison Geers had 19 points, nine rebounds and seven steals to lead MCC. Katelynn Cox added seven points and seven rebounds.
