The Muskegon Community College women’s basketball team dropped a close 77-74 decision to league rival Grand Rapids Community College on Wednesday night.

The Jayhawks fell behind by as many as 10 points in the second half and battled back to within three in the late going, but could not get any closer.

MCC had a balanced attack offensively, led by Sonnie Kurnat with 14 ponts, Nikki Walsworth with 12 points and seven rebounds and Sabri Carter-Latin with 14 points and seven rebounds.

“Step by step, we were bound to get better,” Carter-Latin said. “The fire is coming back in our eyes.”
