The Muskegon Lumberjacks and Mercy Health Partners will host the Second Annual “Jacks Fight Cancer” game on Saturday against the Indiana Ice.  Proceeds from the event will benefit the Johnson Family Cancer Center in Muskegon.

The Lumberjacks have come up with various ways in which fans can get involved to help out those who have been affected by cancer.

First off, fans who attend the  game will receive a free purple ribbon pin.  Also, from now up until the end of the game, fans can purchase a purple ribbon care card that fans can redeem at either the box office or Customer Service Table during the home games on Friday and Saturday  for only $1.  The purple ribbon care cards will be on display in the L.C. Walker Arena through the month of January.

Fans also can donate a ticket to the game to give to a local hospice volunteer, employee, patient or family member for $10.  Also for $10, fans can purchase a limited-edition “Jacks Fight Cancer” t-shirt that will be available at the Sawmill starting on Friday.

The Lumberjacks also will be paying tribute to loved ones whose lives have been affected by cancer in a special program insert and extended starting lineup.  Fans can have their loved ones recognized in the special program insert for only $25 or have a Lumberjacks player play in honor or memory of a beloved one for only $100 during the player introductions.

Other ways fans can contribute to the good cause is bidding on a pink kayak that was donated by Sun Dolphin in a silent auction running now up until the start of the third period during the game on Saturday.

Lastly, fans will be able to bid on special-edition purple jerseys that the players will be wearing during the game.  The jerseys will be auctioned off following the conclusion of the game starting at $200.

Glamazon Salon will also be providing free haircuts to fans that would like to donate 8-10 inches of their hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths.  For more information on donating your hair, you can visit Pantene’s website at www.pantene.com and click on the “Beautiful Lengths” tab on the homepage.

If you have any questions or would like to donate a ticket, purchase a tribute in the program or a starting line-up read, please contact Community Relations Manager Andrea Clancy at (231) 724-5225 extension 297 or [email protected].
