The Muskegon Community College bowling teams competed in the NJCAA Bowling National Tournament this weekend in Buffalo.

The men’s team finished 13th in the 20-team tournament while the women finished eighth among 13 teams.

Among the weekend highlights for the Jayhawks were Jeff Van Laan and finishing sixth in the men’s doubles and Stacy Walton and Jolene Douglas finished 10th in the women’s doubles competition.

In the men’s all-around, which included 117 bowlers, Kyle Essenberg averaged 183.1 for 29th place. Other MCC top placers included Jeff Van Laan (39th, 178.8 avg.), Bobby DeCheney (44th, 175.3 avg.) and Jimmy Strysick (47th, 172.7 avg.).

In the women’s all-around, which included 72 bowlers, Stacey Walton was 22nd with a 163.3 average, Jolene Douglas was 32nd at 152.8, Ashley Martz was 38th with a 148.5 average and Adrianna Baker was 46th with a 142.8 average.
