An eight-run third inning propelled the Muskegon Community College Jayhawk softball team to a 16-1 victory over Lake County Community College.
The game ended in five innings.
MCC hit three home runs on the day, including Deanna Stickler-Gatson’s grand slam, a two-run homer by Megan VanderWal and a homer by Taylor Sanicki.
Sanicki finished with four RBI on two hits. She singled in the fourth and homered in the fifth.
The winning pitcher was Kaytlin Wozniak with three shutout innings. She struck out three and gave up one hit.
After the eight-run third, the Jayhawks added five more runs in the fifth.
