The Muskegon Lumberjacks offense could not get on track again on Saturday night in a 4-1 loss to the Youngstown Phantoms.

Two weekend home games and the Jacks could muster just one goal in each.

Muskegon trailed 2-1 heading into the final period, but allowed two goals in the final 20 minutes, including one before the 1:00 mark.

The game was witnessed by 3,474 spectators at L.C. Walker Arena.

Youngstown got on the board in the first period when Sam Anas converted on a 2-on-1 break.

Muskegon tied it at 2:34 of the second period when Brian Morgan slipped the puck between the skates of a Youngstown player and skated in on net. The initial shot was saved by Sean Romeo, the Phantom goaltender, but Jeff Kubiak swooped in and scored on the rebound. Zach Saar also assisted.

That would be Muskegon’s lone goal of the night.

Later in the second period, Youngstown took the lead for good on a goal by Cam Brown.

Third-period goals by Austin Cangelosi and Luke Stork scored for the visitors.

Muskegon had a 35-25 advantage in shots on goal. Kevin Lindskoug made 21 saves in the Muskegon net.

The Lumberjacks will attempt to right the ship next weekend with home games against Chicago on Friday  night and Team USA (U-18) on Saturday night. Both games begin at 7:15 p.m.
