Several area wrestlers won their first-round consolation matches on Friday morning at the MHSAA Individual State Finals at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

By winning their first-round consolation match, these wrestlers are still in contention to place in the top-eight of their respective weight classes and thus earn all-state honors.

Wrestling continues at 2 p.m. for the consolation’s second round.

Winning consolation round matches in Division 2 were Luke Spotts of  Fremont (125) and Collin Butler (145) of  Fruitport.

In Division 3, Ludington’s Dylan Sorensen  (215), Justin  Steiger (160) of Mason County Central,  Trenton Rosely (130) of  Newaygo and Shelby’s Dylan Felt (119) all won morning matches.

In Division 4, Elijah Flores (112) and Klayton Ruggles (135), Hesperia’s Wyatt Conkle (285), Corey Agens (103) and Scott Rosencrants (215) won their matches as did Kent City’s Brendon Rodenburg (135) and Jayson Ellicott (140).
