Spring preview: Fruitport boys head into track season with solid nucleus of returnees

Fruitport boys track team finished third in the Lakes 8 conference a year ago wtih a 5-2 record.The goal this season, under ninth-year coach Chad Brandow, is to improve on that finish.

Key returnees include: Cody Pekel  (400 meter, 1600 relay), Alan Pekel (hurdles), Alan Jones (discus, shot put), Rodney Morse (discus, shot put), Shawn Knox,  Jr. (sprints and relays), Nic Heil (long jump and relays) and Zach Gilson (long jump and relays).

Key newcomers include Noah Hendricks and Aaron King, both distance runners.
