The Western Michigan Christian girls basketball team celebrated ‘Senior Night’ at its last home game last week.

On Friday night, three seniors carried the scoring load as the Warriors defeated host Saugatuck 51-40 for the Class C district championship.

Vanessa Eekhoff led the way with 19 points, followed by Rachel Bruinsma with 13 and Julie Merz with 10. Eekhoff added six rebounds and three steals, Bruinsma had 10 rebounds, five blocks and three assists and Merz had five assists.

“The second half we made some minor adjustments and started the half on a 10-0 run,” said WMC coach Mike Henry.

Bella Perez-Pala led the Indians with 13 points.

WMC (17-6) advances to next week’s regional tournament at Springport, where they will face Delton Kellogg, a 42-32 winner over Galesburg Augusta.
