Montague got off to a strong start on Wednesday thanks to the pitching of Tristen Schultz in the opener.

Montague used the two-hit, 10-strikeout performance from Schultz to win the opener 2-0. Montague also won the nightcap, 6-5.

Schultz also helped his own cause with an RBI single in the opener. Chayce Lohman had two hits and Brandon Stine added a double.

Jake Sied suffered the loss on the mound for Ravenna.

In the nightcap, Ravenna took an early 3-0 lead. Montague came back wit one run in the second inning on an RBI single by Cameron Brayman, who scored on a wild pitch in the fourth inning to pull to within a run.

Ravenna added two runs in the fifth inning, but Montague scored three runs in its half of the fifth to tie the game. Schultz had an RBI double and Ben Rupert plated two runs with a single.

In the bottom of the seventh, Schultz walked before stealing second and third bases. Rupert then produced a line single to center to score the winning run.

“To be down early and claw our way back to go down again and finally tie it up and win in the last at bat is something special for this group,” Montague coach Kevin Buchberger said. “This is the second game we came back and win in the final bat.  This is a never give up team and to know we are never out of a game is huge.”

Montague improved to 6-0 overall, 4-0 in the conference.
