Montague captured a pair of conference baseball victories on Tuesday.

In the opener, Montague won 8-2. The Wildcats also won the nightcap, 4-3, on a walk off hit.

In the first game, Tristen Schultz pitched seven solid innings, allowing two hits. Brandon Stine had two hits, knocked in one run, scored one run and had five stolen bases. Zachary Gaule had two hits, two RBI and scored two runs.

In the nightcap, Bryce Raeth picked up the victory on the mound with 2 2/3 effective innings of work.

Chase Casebolt and Jacob Buchberger each had three hits for the Wildcats. Jacob Marsh had two hits.

In the bottom of the seventh, Montague came up trailing 3-2. The Spartans were able to retire the first two Wildcat hitters before Brandon Stine worked a 10-pitch at-bat into a walk. Stine stole second, which was followed Buchberger’s infield hit to short. Stine scored on the play.

A single by Casebolt moved Buchberger to second and he scored on a single to left by Marsh that gave the Wildcats the victory and the sweep.
