The Muskegon Community College Jayhawks earned a split of a Western Conference baseball doubleheader on Tuesday with league-leading Kellogg Community College.

Kellogg won the opener 6-1 and MCC won the nightcap 4-2.

In the opener, the Jayhawks were in a scoreless battle until three errors and two walks helped Kellogg push across three runs in the fifth inning.

In the nightcap, MCC scored three runs in the sixth inning that turned a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 lead. Muskegon tacked on one more run in the seventh.

John Jackoviak had a two-out double that tied the game then Ty Devine doubled him home. Devine finished with two hits.

Kyle Vedrode picked up the victory on the mound in Game 2. Bryant Westra worked out of a seventh-inning jam and earned his fourth save of the season.

MCC is 12-7 overall, 3-1 in the league. On Wednesday, the Jayhawks host Kalamazoo CC in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
