It was a rough weekend for the Muskegon Community College Jayhawks softball team.

A day after dropping a doubleheader to Grand Rapids CC, MCC fell twice to Kalamazoo Valley CC on Sunday. Kalamazoo Valley won the opener 9-4 and the nightcap 3-0.

In the first game, Emily Peak had two singles and knocked in two runs for MCC, which had just five hits and struck out 11 times.

Katyi Carlson and Taylor Sanicki also knocked in runs for the Jayhawks.

In the second game, MCC mustered another five hits from five different players. Peake and Brooke Agers each had a double for MCC. Pitcher Megan VanderWal allowed two earned runs and struck out seven.
