Muskegon Community College took a pair of wins away from visiting Jackson Community College on Saturday. The Jayhawks won 2-0 in Game 1 and 7-3 in the nightcap.

Megan VanderWal pitched a one-hitter in the opener with one strikeout and four walks.

Kayti Carlson gave VanderWal some offensive support in the third inning with a sacrifice fly that put MCC up 2-0. The Jayhaws took a 1-0 lead earlier in the inning scoring on an error.

In Game 2, MCC fell behind early after Jackson scored three runs in the first inning. But Jayhawks pitching settled down as Taylor Lemke got the win.

Lemke pitched four innings with three strikeouts, one walk and and five hits. Kaytlin Wozniak relieved Lemke for the final three innings and struck out three and allowed two hits.

Emily Peake gave MCC a 4-3 lead by blasting a two-run home run in the fourth inning.

MCC added to its lead with a pair of runs in the sixth inning. Taylor Sanicki’s bunt-single scored Deanna Stickler-Gatson.

Stickler-Gatson led MCC with three hits and an RBI and Peake had two hits and two RBI.
