The winning streak reached eight games for the Muskegon Community College Jayhawks’ softball team on Saturday.

The Jayhawks evened their record at 13-13 with 14-0 and 7-3 victories over Jackson Community College.

In the first game, MCC was led by Kelly Barnes with three hits and four RBI. Brooke Agers, Emily Peake and Taylor Sanicki each had two hits. Peake also knocked in two runs.

Kelly Wozniak was the winning pitcher. She allowed three hits in five innings of work.

In the nightcap, MCC got off to a good start with four runs in the opening inning. Pitcher Taylor Lemke went the distance on the mound with eight strikeouts.

Leading hitters were Mary Guidice with a home run, Sonnie Kurnat with two hits and Sanicki with three RBI.

MCC will take on Grand Rapids Community College on Sunday.
